Gave Wm Perratt in Distress £5

Misses Jennings gave £5

Mrs Jesty Do. £5 Reced by me & paid Chk W & D for £15

This entry from March 1854 is very unusual as the amount that was given was quite considerable. The only William Perratt that I have found was a baptist minister [in 1851 living in Harlington Middlesex] who may have been his sister’s son [Mary Perratt]. This plus the religious connection may explain the generous Do.nation.
